I am in my final prep stage before the Mt.Sac Relays in walnut California. Things are looking good, and feeling good. However, I was thrown my first real blow, first ego check, first dose of reality today when I checked the status of my competition. I looked on the Mens Invitational start list to see who was in the competition. My name was not on the list… Now I did find it in the college/open div. which is still a great competition. However, I have had my eyes so focused on the ‘prize’ that I forgot about the steps I must climb to get there. Reality is, I have not jumped for two or three years in the competitive world, and I will have to prove myself before anything is given to me.

That being said, I have to go out there and jump my behind off, and earn the respect, I feel I deserve. That may sound a little narcissistic, but it is how a brother feels. I must earn the respect that I feel I deserve. I am not saying it should be given to me. So, Mt.Sac… college/open div. here I come. I know there are some good jumpers out there… but I love being the main event, and right now I am simply the opening act. Talk about more fuel in my fire… yeee haw!
